2009 Bugatti Veyron Targa

Volkswagen source has confirmed that Bugatti is indeed working on a Veyron Targa. Bugatti spokes person Georges Keller confirmed that his company is working on a “convertible”.The drop-top Veyron is due to launch sometime next year. Here's some maths for you. Out of the 300 Veyrons that Bugatti promised, 220 of them have already been spoken for and that leaves only 20 Veyron that will be launched in Targa version. But it’s still unknown if this Targa version will count towards the total figure. More details about 2009 Bugatti Veyron Targa along with its photo can be checked above.IL is reporting that the chassis will be heavily reinforced to cope with the loss of the crucial structural component. Production will begin next year along side the Targa's fixed-roof predecessor, and with the current Veyron going for around $2 million, don't expect to get your 217-mph (limited) top speed kicks without paying another $250,000 on top of the Veyron's base-price.

GRANDE PUNTO - PASSION ON THE MOVE

At launch there will be two petrol engine options: 1.2 8v (65 bhp) and a new 1.4 8v with 77 bhp; and four turbodiesels: 1.3 16v MultiJet (75 bhp), or 1.3 MultiJet with a variable geometry turbine (90 bhp); and 1.9 MultiJet with either 120 bhp or 130 bhp.

The Grande Punto, the new Fiat that aims to repeat the historical success of the previous model, without following in its footsteps, makes its debut in Turin. Although in theory the car belongs to segment B, its size, equipment and characteristics actually represent an alternative to many segment C cars.

The Grande Punto is therefore unique in the world panorama, designed and built to be the new benchmark in stylistic terms, introducing a concept of larger 'dimensions'. The model also reaches safety and quality standards that are particularly high for its segment, it offers the best range of diesel engines and, finally, it has a very competitive price/content ratio. As a result of all these features, the Grande Punto interprets three fundamental qualities, beauty, solidity and brilliance in a highly original way.

MARUTI-SUZUKI KIZASHI CONCEPT

Suzuki displayed its Kizashi concept at the Indian Auto Expo, on 9tth Jan 08. The car whose production version is likely to take on the likes of Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla was shown at the Expo. Here are some pics (Sourced from Xbhp.com) of the concept car. Suzuki also showcased its new small car concept the A-Star, which will be majorily manufactured in India and exported all around (a la Hyundai i10). The car could possible replace the Maruti 800 in the country. The company also showed a production version of the hatchback Splash, which could be launched India later.

MARUTI-SUZUKI A-STAR CONCEPT

1) Maruti Suzuki A-star: India is an important market for Suzuki which outsold Japan in the first half of 2007. Recently Suzuki hinted its desire to holding the 50% market share in indian passenger car industry for eternal. It seems that suzuki is trying hard to make this true. “Our next world car will be made in India,” Chairman Osamu Suzuki told in New Delhi today(October 11th). After swift, Maruti has worked closely with Suzuki Motors to build a car, called as A-star, this hatchback will be the fifth global car for Suzuki but first to be produced in India. Swift sedan, splash hatchback and the new car A-Star will be the part of Maruti Suzuki’s ongoing efforts to protect its market share in India, which stood at 54 percent in 2006.

2) Few firsts: Maruti Suzuki’s A-star concept will be debuted at the forthcoming Delhi Auto expo and then it will be showcased in rest of international shows. For european market, A-star would be the Suzuki’s new Alto which is scheduled to debut at Geneva Motor show in March. For the first time, Maruti engineers in India have contributed to one of the Suzuki’s global project right from its inception.

The production model that inherits some of the design themes of the Concept A-Star will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki India’s plant. Like the already-launched Suzuki world strategic models(swift, SX4, new vitara and splash. ), it will prove that sporty and exciting performance can be enjoyed together with outstanding fuel economy.

3) Maruti Suzuki A-star: It has almost become a rule for modern hatchbacks to feature low slung grille, A-star complies to that. Number plate will sit on the broad strip. Large front bumper and spruced up fenders gives a sporty chracter to this hatchback. The eye shaped headlamps is clearly a ‘wow’ factor. The size and front of A-star remind us the old Chevrolet Matiz, albeit with a more muscular and sporting than its competitors, at least in prototype. It seems Maruti suzuki is responding to the customer’s voice, unlike the swift the rear passenger will have more visibility. A-star’s large rear windscreen will facilate it. The only sorepoint in the concept, is the position of suzuki’s badge, could have been postioned better

4) Maruti Suzuki A-star: A-star will have a newly developed euro 5-compliant 1.0-litre aluminium petrol engine with CO2 emissions lower than those of European competitors (lower than 109g/km). The engine and the manual transmission for the A-star will be manufactured by Suzuki Powertrain India. Suzuki would consider making a version with a small diesel engine from its powertrain unit in India.

5) Maruti Suzuki A-star: A-star, a five door hatchback woould fit into the A - segment (currently alto is the market leader of this segment). A-star is expected to be priced around the 3 lakh range($7500). Are u lured by A-star’s proportion & its dynamic lines and interested in getting one? if numbers are to be believed you dream of booking a A-star won’t be easy, it might be one of the toughest you have ever come across. Maruti will sell only 50000 A-star a year (atleast initially) though it will produce 2lakh A-star’s a year. The number of Swift being sold by maruti suzuki every month is in the range of 6000 to 7,000 units . Production of A-star will begin by october 2008. Regarding the launch, Maruti Suzuki will export the A-star first to Europe (from December 2008) and later it will be launched in india. Apart from the A-star, Suzuki will also produce a new platform(Model N) in India in alliance with Maruti.

MARUTI'S WAGON-R REPLACEMENT SPLASH TO HIT THE INDIAN ROADS NEXT YEAR

Although it was shown as a concept at Maruti Suzuki’s pavilion at Auto Expo ‘08, Splash has been in the international market for a while now. Keeping the trend in mind, India has been getting all the latest products developed by Suzuki, be it the Swift, SX4 or the Grand Vitara, so it is only but correct to imagine that the Splash will be here, soon. The small car market is what dominates the sales chart and Swift has proven to be a runaway success for Maruti Suzuki. Now to beat its closest rival, Hyundai, the largest passenger car maker will do all it can to throw the current darling of all - i10 off from its perch.

The three engines that are available can all come to India as well. The 1.0L petrol mill is a three cylinder unit and gives out 65PS at 6000rpm while the torque is rated at 90Nm peaking at 4800rpm. The 1.2L engine will spark the fuel to produce 85PS of peak power and 114Nm of turning force. The litre capacity engine will take you to a hundred from naught in 14.7 seconds while the 1.2L motor will do the same in 12.3 seconds while the top whack will be 160kmph and 175kmph respectively. There is another engine, a diesel one, which will be offered. The 1.3L DDiS will deliver 75 horses to the front wheels to reach a 100 clicks in 14 seconds to keep the power-hungry blokes happy while the 165Nm of torque will ensure smooth drivability.

Being a Maruti, be sure of bulletproof reliability and strong maintenance to go in its favour. Since it is already in production in the international market, expect it to become a reality for Indian roads as well, by the early 2009.

A DOZEN SMALL CARS COMING - SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL

Come 2010 & the indian small car market is all set to hit fourth gear.Close to a dozen new small cars from big names including Maruti-Suzuki, Honda, Volkswagen, Fiat, Ford &Toyota are expeted to hit the road rejuvenating a market that accounts for as much as 75% of car sales.
The new cars, many of which would also have variants loaded with latest features like automatic drive, ABS, & airbags ,will flow from almost the entire spectrum of car-makers present in India & be available in the Rs 3 lakh- Rs 5 lakh bracket (excluding the Rs 1 lakh wonder Tata Nano).

A CAR THAT FOLDS IN HALF

A British designer has come up with a solution to parking space problems: a car that folds in half.

Designer Jonathan Bailey has submitted his creation to Peugeot as part of a design competition.

Called the BRB Evolution, it jacks up on its nose with its back wheels sliding underneath on two rollers, allowing it to use 50 per cent less parking space.
